Welcome to the Age of Warmongers!

Just a very small amount of my painted collection...

Hello and welcome to the Age of Warmongers, a blog that will focus on the hobby aspect of table top miniature warfare. My mission with this blog is to provide hobby content for those who are interested in many different hobby universes from Age of Sigmar to Malifaux and many more. I am a huge believer in the Hobby Progress  I will even delve into battle reports and try as much as I can to show off my miniatures in as cinematic a way as I possibly can complete with old school White Dwarf inspired map layouts.

So who am I? Well first my name is Kevin. I have been into the hobby since 1997 and I first discovered  Warhammer on a field trip for school to the Galleria Mall. After walking in and being amazed at the strange little plastic miniatures being moved around alien planet tables, I snagged a copy of the Games-Workshop Christmas 1997 Shopping Guide and just fell head over heels in love. The first game I collected was the 3rd Edition of Warhammer 40,000 and I have been obsessed ever since...

The 3rd edition cover that sparked the obsession

Since that time I have drifted between Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40,000, collecting pretty much every army one way or another. Of course I continue to find myself back into collecting Space Marines no matter how many times I buy the same Tactical Squad kit (and I have bought ALOT of Tactical Squad kits). I just keep finding myself drawn back to them from Blood Angels to Grey Knights and mostly into Chaos. Whats not to like about a genetically engineered demi-god in power armour and their most basic weapons launch miniature rockets?

Recently in the past few years I have dabbled in other gaming systems. This has ranged from WarmaHordes, Dreadball to Malifaux (my latest obsession). For the longest time I have tried to curb what I call my "Hobby ADD" but as of late I have begun to just embrace it. A little randomness never hurt anyone right?

Again my mission statement with this blog is to provide hobby content for those who are interested in many different hobby universes while maintaining a "set schedule" and keeping myself on track and updating as much as I can. So lets get this journey started shall we?

So for this month I am entered into the 1 Hour A Night Hobby Progress Challenge on Facebook (and soon on the Independent Characters forums) with a squad of 5 Grey Knight Terminators. The squad includes 1 Justicar with Warding Stave, 1 Terminator with Psycannon, 1 Terminator with DaemonHammer and 2 Terminators with Falchions (because I love more attacks versus higher strength).

The goal with this squad is to establish a paint scheme that I can quickly use with an airbrush. My main inspiration comes from the Emperors Gift novel by Aaron Dembski-Bowden where he describes their armour as bright and chrome like, I plan on using some weathering techniques to break up the birght and shiny new look to give the impression of mid-battle wear and tear. Fingers crossed I can pull it off with what I have at hand.

Thats about it for tonight everyone. May the Emperor Protect.
